Group Tours

The story of Topeka begins with transportation. Prior to its official settlement, its land north of the river included part of the Oregon Trail. Col. Cyrus K. Holliday wanted to build a railroad because he saw an opportunity for greater fortune and the development of the nation. He secured the funds to begin the endeavor and chose a site on the banks of the Kansas River. Topeka was founded in 1854.
